I was stationed in Turkey in the 70s and was fortunate enough to have a reliable car and time to travel some. Having a car made all the difference between the boredom of being confined to base and having an exciting tour. I was based near the city of Adana and traveled as far west as Antalia, east to Gazientep north to Capadocia, and south to Antakya. We often camped out on the beach near the town of Mersin.
